Black currant leaf has been a cornerstone of traditional European tea culture for generations. Long before it found its way into modern botanical culture, communities across the British Isles, France, and Eastern Europe brewed Ribes nigrum leaf as part of a cherished daily ritual, honoring the whole bush, from berry to leaf. In France especially, where the black currant is known as cassis, the leaf has long been treasured for its unmistakable aromatic character.
Brew this black currant leaf tea on its own as a single-ingredient botanical, or blend your own custom fruit leaf tea at home. Whether you're building a mindful daily tea ritual or simply exploring one of the most aromatically bold leaves in the temperate botanical world, it was made for you.
How to Brew: 1–2 tsp per 8 oz boiling water for 7–10 minutes; a fine mesh infuser is recommended. Black currant leaf brews a deep golden-green cup with a bold, aromatic, slightly tangy and fruity character, with a distinctive forest-floor depth. Complex and unmistakable, a leaf that stands out on its own or in any blend. Lovely with raw honey or a touch of maple syrup.
